Bicycle Equipment

What We Do

The Greenville Spinners Bicycle Safety Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization committed to making the Upstate a safer place to ride bikes. We accomplish this goal in several key ways.

01

We offer educational outreach programs focused on safe cycling habits for students and adults.

02

We provide helmets to underserved children in Greenville County.

03

We distribute helmets to vulnerable cyclists who otherwise could not afford to purchase a helmet.

OUR "WHY"

Bicycle injuries and deaths affect children and young people more than any other age group. Our programming helps to prevent injury and provides potentially life-saving education and equipment to our most vulnerable populations.

TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Since 1993, the Greenville Spinners Safety Foundation has funded more than 15,000 helmets and participated in numerous safety clinics, bike rodeos, helmet fittings, and community health fairs. Our impact is made possible by generous contributions from friends at the Greenville Spinners Bicycle Club and many others.

More than 95 percent of all donations go directly toward fulfilling our mission. Over the years, we have supported and/or partnered with many organizations to promote bicycle safety, including:

BELL Xcel

We provide helmets and present bicycle safety sessions for at-risk students in the BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life) Summer Mentoring Program at Lakeview, Tanglewood, and Berea middle schools.

I Can Bike

We volunteer and provide helmets to participants at I Can Bike, a program that teaches children with special needs how to ride a bike.

The Village Wrench

We provide helmets, lights, locks, and financial support to help empower others through bicycle repair, bike earning, and cycling educational opportunities.

Swamp Rabbit Trail

We maintain the “Burma Shave” signs the Safety Foundation installed last year to encourage cyclists on the trail to wear helmets.

Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club

We provide helmets to children who earn Christmas bicycles through good behavior, participation, and attendance at the Boys & Girls Club’s after-school program.

St. Anthony’s Catholic Church

We provide helmets to needy children who receive bicycles for Christmas.

Palmetto Cycling Coalition

We support the PCC in its mission to make South Carolina bicycle and pedestrian friendly by improving safety through better access and education.

Momentum Bike Clubs

We provide helmets, bike lights, safety vests, skull caps and water bottles as well as financial support to help positively impact youth development through cycling and mentoring relationships.

YOUR SUPPORT

Thank you Spinners members and friends for making our vision remain a reality over the years. Your support is essential to helping the Foundation make cycling safer in our community.
